Victor Sgarbi has been singing the role of Escamillo for many years, without ever losing the passion for this character in Bizet's most famous Opera, Carmen.

Brazilian-born/British National Opera Singer, the lyric baritone Victor Sgarbi has captivated audiences all over the world with his versatility and stamina as a performer. With a background as a successful dentist and oral maxillofacial surgeon in Brazil, Victor has made a seamless transition to full-time professional classical and operatic singing, captivating audiences with his rich baritone voice and charismatic stage presence.

His adaptability shines through in his performances of Operas and Oratorios, which range from the  repertoire of Handel, Mozart, Puccini, and Verdi to his work with some of the most prestigious professional choirs.

Since his operatic debut as Schaunard at Teatro Sao Pedro in Sao Paulo in 2006, Victor has taken on a wide range of challenging lyric baritone roles, such as Macbeth (Macbeth), Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni), Amonasro (Aida), Renato (Un Ballo in Maschera), Nottingham (Roberto Devereux), Germont (Traviata), Malatesta (Don Pasquale), Figaro (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Belcore (L'Elisir d'Amore), Father (Hansel and Gretel), Sparrow (Maria de Buenos Aires), Maestro (Prima la Musica poi le Parole), Polyphemus (Acis and Galatea), Marcello, Schaunard, and Colline (La Boheme), Conte Almaviva (Marriage of Figaro), Tonio (I Pagliacci), Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), and many others.

Victor has performed on stages all over the world, from the major concert halls and theatres in Brazil to the Albert Hall, Festival Hall, Barbican, St James Piccadilly, and St John's Smith Square in London, Palau de la Musica in Valencia and Alicante in Spain, Laeiszhalle and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Rheingau Festival in Wiesbaden, and the Nouveau Siecle Hall in Lille, to name just a few.

His philanthropic efforts have taken him to Palestine in 2016, where he participated in workshops and concerts with the Choir of London to raise awareness of the ongoing conflict.
At home, his piano (his first instrument) keeps him company and reminds him that music is more than his fingers, his vocal cords, his body and his soul, music is the engine that makes him breathe.
